How we grade

Grades describe looks only. Everything above D works, because we test everything. CIB means complete in box, with cartridge, box and manual.

  1. Grade S: Sealed or as new

Factory sealed, or opened and never played. No wear we can find under the loupe.

  2. Grade A: Near mint

Light shelf wear at most. Bright label, no tears, sharp box corners.

  3. Grade B: Good

Played and looked after. Small scuffs, faint label wear, a soft box corner.

  4. Grade C: Fair

Clear wear, like a faded or torn label, writing or a creased box. Plays perfectly.

  5. Grade D: For parts

Sold as is, for repair or display. The sticker says exactly what is wrong.

P2 Players say

  • Theo spent ten minutes showing my daughter how a save battery works. She now explains it to her friends at recess.

    Marisol T., Bought a refurbished 16-bit console
  • They graded my copy an A when I'd have called it S, then showed me the split seam under the loupe. Honest grading is the whole reason I shop here.

Grant H., Collector, sells his duplicates here
  • My handheld from 1998 came back in nine days with a backlight and a new shell. It looks better than it did on my tenth birthday.

    Keisha O., Handheld repair
  • Forty loose carts from a garage, an itemised quote in twenty minutes. I took the store credit and left with the RPG I never finished as a kid.

Paulo R., Traded in his uncle's collection
  • The monthly kart cup is the best five dollars we spend. Ollie came third in September and has not stopped talking about it.

Ben A., Kart cup regular, with his son

House rules

  1. Trade-ins need photo ID. Under 18? Bring a parent or guardian along.

  2. Store credit is worth 25% more than cash and never expires.

  3. The online estimate is a starting point. We make the final offer after testing.

  4. Games come with 30-day returns. Refurbished consoles carry a 90-day warranty.

  5. Reproductions are always labelled REPRO, on the sticker and on the receipt.

  6. Shelf prices are the prices. Ask about bundles instead of haggling.

Read before playing

Instruction booklet

How do you test games?

Every cart and disc is cleaned, then played for at least ten minutes on original hardware. Battery-save games get a save, a power cycle and a reload. Consoles run for four hours on the bench before they go on the shelf.

What if it stops working?

Games have a 30-day return window, and refurbished consoles carry a 90-day warranty on everything we repaired. Bring it back with the receipt and we fix it, swap it or refund it.

How do I know it isn't a reproduction?

We open every cart we buy and check the board, the chips and the label print. Reproductions never go on the shelf as originals. When we do sell one, it says REPRO on the sticker and on the receipt.

Which console should my kid start with?

Tell us their age and what they like. A refurbished handheld is our usual first pick, since it is tough, cheap to run and needs no cables. For the TV, the first console bundle comes with three games we chose for kids.

Can I buy online?

Yes. Hold anything on this page and we either keep it behind the counter for 48 hours or ship it once you pay over the phone. The listing describes the exact copy you get.

Do you buy whole collections?

Yes, from ten games to a garage full. Text photos to 555-0147 for a quote within a day. For large collections we come to you within 30 miles.
